Switchback Entertainment is a boutique, full-service production house focused on telling emotive stories in some of the most remote and inspiring locations on the planet. Our feature and short films have won countless awards internationally, been distributed by Netflix among other outlets, and been viewed over 30 million times online. We have set benchmarks for engaging branded content, producing the Salomon TV series now in its 13th season. We fuse nuanced character development with high end cinematography to convey the human experience of adventure and issues facing our planet. Our crew is made up of professional skiers and adventurers — able to climb El Capitan in a single day or pull a toboggan across the Greenland ice sheet — all while keeping pace with the characters and athletes we work with.

Based in Whistler, BC, we are located in the heart of the Coast Mountains and only 90 minutes from the robust film industry hub of Vancouver.

MIKE DOUGLAS

Director - Producer - Editor

In his 26 year ski career, Mike Douglas, has done it all – World Cup mogul competitor, coach, film star, TV commentator, innovator, adventurer, event director, writer, film producer and more. Most notably, he is credited with the design of the modern twin–tip ski – an innovation that changed the sport. Known as the ‘Godfather of Freeskiiing’, Mike is constantly pushing forward and challenging the boundaries of skiing and the media that surrounds it.

Though he has dabbled in filmmaking since his first high school project – a short 8mm film called 'Born To Ski'– it wasn’t until 2006 that he started to take his production work seriously. At that time he founded Switchback Entertainment and began production on the web-series, Salomon Freeski TV. Since then he has worked on more than 100 productions and has won several filmmaking awards. Mike’s passion lies in directing and the creative process of filmmaking.
